Integration with phone system (VoIP/others)
To display callerID, company, easier to document calls
Please note Maximizer’s professional service team have created integrations with Avaya AES among others so feel free to contact them directly if you have an acute need for this type of integration.

Integration is always our focus in Maximizer. We have planned to work on more intergration features including integration with phone, instant messaging and SMS in 2018 time frame.

There has been no response from Maximizer since Joseph Hui's note back in Sept 2013. Can we get an update?

I would love to have this feature added to the software, because it does increase productivity and saves valuable resources.

We use a Horizon a Hosted Phone System. Numbers in the Address Book / Contact page can be click to dial as the Integrator app scans web pages for telephone numbers, it turns them into links for click to dial.
The only problem in Maximizer is where you would want it to work most:
Right click -> Phone ->Make a Call = a drop-down list. The drop down list I guess is causing the Integrator not to recognise it as a number.
BTW we have inbound calls working using the same Integrator App

we use to be able to use our dialer until we upgraded to Max 12 that was a while ago and to date I have not been able to use it.
I am currently working with our phone provider to see if we can come up with some sort of work around. -

Hi Dean,When configuring VOIP calling in Maximizer, you'll want to use the URL provided by your VOIP provider. In the case of RingCentral, this would be the URL provided for the "Call" function of the RingOut API.
Your URL should look something like this:
https://service.ringcentral.com/ringout.asp?cmd=call&username=18889363711&ext=[Extension]&password=1234&to=[PhoneNumber]&from=6505551231&clid=8889363711&prompt=1
You can see where the Maximizer merge fields for [PhoneNumber] and [Extension] are inserted, though you'd need to customize the remaining URL parameters with the settings for your own RingCentral account. You can find full details about the RingOut API and the various URL parameters that are used here: http://service.ringcentral.com/ringoutapi/Thank you,
Jason

Great the above fix works for out going calls now using Ring Central VOIP service . BUT! if lacks all the functions of the desktop TAPI driver used in the desktop version of Maximizer. Ie Busy Message, No Answer Next previous record F7 for key board short cut to Dial. Wow it sort of defeats the purpose
To make a simple call you have to do the following steps:Search for proper record:
1. Right click mouse
2. Left click on PHONE - Make a call
3. Left click drop list to view phone #'s
4. Select proper ph #
5. Left Click Dial
6. Lift Receiver on VOIP Phone to proceed with call
7. Left Click ANSWER log Notes etc.
8. Left Click on HangUp in Maximzer Web Version
9. Left Click SAVE
10. Manually hang up phoneClose all IE exployer windows opened up on screen in the above process that block screen!
VS Tapi or Modem in Maximizer Desktop Version
Search for proper record:
1. F7 Keyboard shortcut for DIAL
2. Alt 1,2,3,4 to select Proper Phone #
3. Ald D for DIAL
4. Etc.
5. Etc.
6.
7.
8.
9.The beauty of the above keyboard short cuts was you could program all these reparative mouse or key stokes into you multi button mouse and make an out going call a lot faster than you can in the web version. You took a refined design in windows and dropped the ball when you went to the web. All the keyboard short cuts are gone ie you can even perform a " RIGHT CLICK on a record by using the standard keyboard command " SHIFT F10" Why are you not at least follow some windows standards.
Don't get me wrong Web is the way to go! Having used Maximizer since 1993 Is it going to take your developers years to discover all the good stuff they missed and port over all the great functionality of the previous windows versions? I know some of this functionality doesn't exist in a browser But a lot does!
I hear you are migrating away from the desktop versions. Don't leave out all the good stuff from past desktop versions that makes the program so great behind.
Regards
Dean
PS: If you don't believe me, Have your developers make 10 typical phone calls with the Web version VS the Windows Version. Compare time and the user experience?
The Web version is a clunker when it comes to VOIP phone integration. VS Windows version with Tapi or Modem.
In 1995 I beta tested for Maximizer / Modatech a Bell Phone line Analog / serial device with caller ID that automated in bound calls. It searched for the Maximizer record and populated the address book with a matching record if found or gave you a dialog box option to create a new record. Here were are in 2014 with Voip and ... starting from scratch it seems.
Keep me posted as to your progress on a refined Voip / Web interface.

We have not had experience with the Outlook Dialer. Besides a regular modem that works over normal phone line, does it work with other phone systems (VOIP?)?
We also will have to do some research on the API to see what kind of integration is possible.
-
We are adding to the support for "Formatted URL" for outbound calls in the next version.

As I wrote in the getsatisfaction forum I have this idea:
Would it perhaps be possible to have a solution when we modify the Outlook Integration for WebAccess? To my understanding the Outlook AddIn is only for the WebAccess. Shouldn't it be possible to modify the integration to automatically create a note for the selected entry in the WebAccess when calling that contact via the Outlook dialer?
This solution would also be future-orientated as it is a function for the WebAccess.
All it would need to do is create a note with the time and date of the call, its length, the written down text and the call result (done, working, and so on)

Are there any updates regarding this? We have customers who are eagerly waiting for a solution. Frankly they are angry with the current situation.

We are looking to implement support for "Formatted URL" for outbound calls. We are thinking that the URL template should be an Administrative setting (meaning there will only one URL template for every user). Do you think that will be sufficient?
In the URL template, the administrator would be able to specify some merge fields. For example, the template may be:
sip:{phoneNo}@gateway
sip:{VoipUserID} <-- this is a UDF
https://www.xyz.com/voip/call?{phoneNo}Will this work? Can you give me examples of what your VOIP system supports?
Thanks,
Joseph -

I agree with John and Frank. How is this progressing?

Formatted URLs will work for most softphones for outbound calls. But, for inbound calls and for hard phones (is that what's it's called nowadays?), a more custom solution will be required.
Thanks Phil for the other feedback, we will have a look at into Cytrack.
-
Robbie Brand - Collier Pickard commented
If people are using soft phones could Maximizer not just format phone numbers in specific URL formats so that the numbers can be dialled by clicking them?
I am assuming that a VOIP soft phone that understands SIP would understand a SIP URL like sip:user@domain or sip:PhoneNumber@Gateway (only guessing at this second format)
This would also work for Skype which uses callto:PhoneNumber format.
Most mobile phones seem to work with tel:PhoneNumber
It looks like Microsoft Lync works with all of those formats.
This needs to work in the LAN and the web clients, in mobile client phones will dial the numbers (but not using VOIP). In theory the Skype browser plugin would allow dialling from Maximizer web access, but not the LAN client.
I guess to get this to work we need some new options in the user dialling settings that allow the user to specify the URL format and where to inject the clean phone number in that format. You may also need to use the phone description or the presence of @ to determine the format for SIP dialling.

I suggest you have a talk to the folks at Cytrack (www.cytrack.com). They are an australian company who have built a really good front end that works with a large number of phone systems and for which they have built integration to a large number of CRM systems, including Maximizer.
For Maximizer it will do outbound dialling with the option to pop open a notes window to record details of the call. For inbound it will find the Maximizer record and make it current, also giving the option to automatically open and record a note about the call.

Phil

Sure. This is not the layer where application developers integrate with, unless you are trying to create a software based sip phone. If anyone is aware of any business application that provides similar functionality to integrate with all sip phones, I really would like to know. Even better, if you are aware of any software library that will allow us to provide the desired functionality to all sip phones, please let me know.

That's strange, my understanding of SIP was that it was the base protocol for VOIP and the phone & VOIP software manufacturers added functionality on top of SIP. But with SIP alone, all basic VOIP functionality is available...
