Configurable quick search
The new quick search feature is great, allowing you to search on First Name, Last Name, Company, Phone (all phone numbers) and/or Email Address (all email addresses).
Can you exted this further by adding some configuration options of which fields can be searched by this search e.g. Town, Position.
Clearly the users would need to be educated that the more you add to the quick search the bigger impact on speed performance.
Hi, thanks for your feedback on the quick search feature. We have plans to add more functionality to the current search capability.

I got tired of waiting and so created my own search with a quick access link. It opens a page with boxes for company, first last, address, phones, and several UDF's. Each box has a %~ preentered. we delete the ~ (tilde) and enter our search criteria. The beauty is that it will search for partial matches as well. if all i can remember is first name or part of the address like the number or the street or something. We have a UDF with quote numbers or contract numbers and we can quickly search them. It is used by the entire office now and works way better for us than the built in quick search. On Mobile too.

Now the quick search funtionality doesn't work properly with names which contains "." (read: DOT(S))
In the past this worked properly, now for almost 9 months this is a real big problem!!!!!
There are al lot of companies which have "dots" in there name, then we always have to use the %-sign, but that's is very, very frustating for us!!! -

Users should be able to configure the items they want to be included in their quick search - should be setup in preferences.

We would want a filter configuration that would return matches of first, last and company but filter further for company/individual or contact types. If I enter Smith and I want just companies, I would not have to look at the many people with that last name.

Add my vote to the exact same idea, especially the "limit results by record type" idea. I also get way too many records when I'm really just wanting Companies or a Person by name. Two quick-to-alter ticks for Company/Contact to the left of the text field would be a great start.
Longer term, allowing string logic would be even more powerful!

And/Or allow search logic in the text box, for example "Company:Maximizer + Last:Richardson". Also can we have a company match return companies only? With a large set of contacts it can be a nuisance to scroll through all the contacts to find the company - having just searched for it! (Esp when using Maximizer Web Access.) After all, if we want all the contacts we can go the older Search > Company menu.

I was just going to submit this exact thing. Allowing users to add fields in preferences, or delete ones they will never use would be incredibly helpfull.
