Integration with phone system (VoIP/others)
To display callerID, company, easier to document calls
Please note Maximizer’s professional service team have created integrations with Avaya AES among others so feel free to contact them directly if you have an acute need for this type of integration.

After researching this topic quite a bit, we found that every phone vendor has their own proprietory API. There isn't one common way to handle incoming and outgoing calls.
Instead of trying to build an integration that works for all phone system, we may look at producing an example of how integration can be done. We may share the source code, and let everyone create their own integration with the specific phone systems.

Joseph: one of my clients use a contract tech support co that has that "sip:username@domainname" in their signature. Also in their signature is a Microsoft Lync logo. So I think you can start there...

Are you aware of some other software that has generic SIP integration with all VOIP phone systems? I wonder if this is something we can learn from other software that has done this.

I agree wtih John - SIP integreation is key. We sell the Talkswitch/FortiVoice phone systems, and we see at customers Mitel/Intertel, Ayava, and Cisco phone systems primarily. If we can have SIP integration with those systems it would very well received.

Connie & Joseph: I think we need SIP integration. I'm starting to see this in email signatures:
sip:username@domainname
We have a hosted VOIP system and TAPI integration is not available - I found TAPI modules that are compatible with Asterix but the various hosted VOIP providers we have had over the years will not install due to security concerns...

What is needed is an easy to configure and use integration with phone systems. One that is able to function across windows and web access, and afford us the most flexibility with all systems. Key functions would be:
Click a command to dial out.
Post a note as you dial out (phone note)
Inbound call detection and match (secondary but useful) -

Phone integratin is a very broad topic. We would need to narrow down our focus to the APIs you want to see supported, and more importantly which particular phone systems you would like to see supported.
I would like to ask everyone to provide feedback on these two questions:
1. Which phone systems to support?
2. Is there a standard API you think we should support? -

Ahh yes sorry didnt clock the VoIP when originally posted. We did look into options with the web client where any number on the screen can be pulled into a phone system. It could work for a single user but as soon as you are in a multi user environemnt where you need caller groups or the ability to transfer calls it all got a bit complicated.

Hi Andrew, this suggestion is asking specifically for integration with VoIP phone systems

Does Maximizer not already do this with the TAPI integration?
